Fast facts: This place opened in November and sits behind a convenience store, so it’s easy to miss while traveling on Vance Jackson. It has a small menu of burgers, dogs, fries and a variety of toppings, all of which are free to add onto a burger or dog. Cheese, bacon or chili are available to add to any burger, dog or order of fries. A new menu item, a chicken sandwich called the Fattchick, is coming soon and is available as an off-the-menu item.
Impressions: For an initial impression, one word suffices: Whoa. This is an amazing, simple, greasy burger. Hand-formed patties with nicely caramelized crust start the goodness. The meat itself could use a little more salt and pepper, but the combination of toppings such a grilled onions along with the condiments added enough flavor that it didn’t really matter. Assuming the owners can maintain this level of performance, if not improve it, San Antonio has another hidden gem of a burger place.
